چکیده

In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), congestion may bring about degradation of overall channel quality and increased loss rates, leads to buffer drops and enlarged delays, and tends to be disgustingly unfair toward nodes whose data has to traverse a larger number of hops. Provisioning a WSN so that congestion is an infrequent occasion is quite challenging task. This paper presents a performance comparison study focusing the most relevant congestion control transport protocols for wireless sensor networks. The main objective is to study some characteristics of these types of protocols, focus in energy saving and penalty fidelity with the help of simulations.

Congestion Control Approaches Applied to Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are a specific category of wireless ad-hoc networks where their performance is highly affected by application, life time, storage capacity, processing power, topology changes, the communication medium and bandwidth. These limitations necessitate an effective data transport control in WSNs considering quality of service, energy efficiency, and congestion control. ...

Multi-channel Medium Access Control Protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey

Extensive researches on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have been performed and many techniques have been developed for the data link (MAC) layer. Most of them assume single-channel MAC protocols. In the usual dense deployment of the sensor networks, single-channel MAC protocols may be deficient because of radio collisions and limited bandwidth. Hence, using multiple channels can significantly ...

Energy-Efficient and Reliable Transport Protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks: State-of-Art

New wireless sensor network applications (e.g., military surveillance) require higher reliability than a simple best effort service could provide. Classical reliable transport protocols like Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) are not well suited for wireless sensor networks due to both the characteristics of the network nodes (low computing power, strong energy constraints) and those of the ma...
